Forum Title: Type of Excel Spreadsheet for paving projects
Hello, I am new to the paving side of the business, I have seal coated and done patching for a number of years. Now that I am getting into the paving side I was wondering if you could advise. I am looking for a excel spreadsheet where i can enter the dimensions, type of asphalt, if new stone was needed then how much of it, number of truckloads, number of employees and labor rate along with overhead and mobilization etc. It just seems that there are so many variables that I was thinking that someone has already created a spreadsheet of sort to ease the figuring. Thanks in advance to those whom would be willing to share or advise.

Here is some info from a pamphlet that Blaw Know put out years ago. You could plug some figures into a spreadsheet. Your overhead needs to be figured by you, but needs to be inclusive of all costs, including but not limited to Insurance, rent, your salary, utilities, payments....anything on going...Then add in job direct costs for labor and materials, and finally add in a profit amount. The key is figuring all of your costs accurately. To figure a daily labor rate, figure the number of days a month you can work, then your average day, and what it costs.
